1. Quickstart guide
- People ask questions.
- One lucky question gets promoted to the front page each day.
- People answer all these questions like nobody’s business.
- Awesome.
2. A brief introduction
Big Big Question is a place where big questions can stretch their legs; a site where folks can explain just what, exactly, is what in the face of genuine head-scratchers and brain-breakers and other assorted varieties of large, large queries.
Have you got a big question? Sign up for an account and ask away! Have you got an answer? Jump right in; you don’t need an account to comment.
Do you have a site suggestion, or a question, or spare grant money? Drop us a line.
3. Oh, to hell with brevity
Big Big Question is an experiment. It’s a proof-of-concept attempt to fill a niche, to bridge a gap: here’s a place where, smart, savvy, funny people can let their hair down and answer the kinds of questions that you don’t bring home to mother.
The experiment was inspired by Ask Metafilter, just about the best damned question-and-answer, problem-solving site on the Internet (and I’m not just saying that because I work there). Where Ask Metafilter is aimed at solving problems and answering specific, generally practical questions, however, the goal of Big Big Question is to make a home for the other sort of question:
The ambitious.
The imaginative and the hypothetical.
The wholly unpragmatic.
Those are the huddled masses, yearning to be answered, and this is the place where, I hope, they can have their day in the sun. That’s the big idea behind Big Big Question.
